Dave2 – See what they should have done is come to you in the first place! The thing is they know they made such a pig’s ear of the logo in the first place the powers that be will never back done and change it. By putting the Union Jack on it they are just making it less hard to hate… Hating it is still very much feasible… but it’s less hard.

Blondefabulous – I think it’s supposed to be an interpretation of the numbers 2012 in 2 year old cut out scissor work… I forget now… but I’m sure there was some other representation in there too…

Penelope – Oh you with your original thinking! You can volunteer by signing up at the London 2012 site right here: – http://www.london2012.com/get-involved/volunteering/register-your-interest.php If there’s an option I’ll hand out towels at the swimming/diving events!

kapgar – Just doing my bit to try and keep Britain’s reputation a float – although did you hear the scream when Beckham appeared?

Neil – I hope disappointment is as far away from 2012 as possible! It WILL be fine so long as the country gets over itself and pulls together!

Catherine – I think it’s one of those times when you have to volunteer – it’s a once in a lifetime thing – an ‘I was There’ and fantastic blog fodder!

yorksdevil – Better the overexcited child that the dourness and cheap suit wearing tosspot Livingstone though, right? I love Boris -he makes me happy!
Sunshine? In Yorkshire? No no no – that would be you hallucinating! London is only not sunny when it needs to be – Wimbledon and the like… Yeah, it’s so gonna flood during the Olympics!

Kevin Spencer – I was less offended by Beckham than I was Leona effin’ Lewis. A two bit talent show winner – come on?!

I saw the bit with Boris. He waved too much for my liking; like an excited child receiving a prize.

Does it really not always rain in London? I watch a lot of sport that takes place in a rain sodden London whilst we have glorious sunshine. I always think it must create quite the negative impression on international viewers.

Bec, I hope you get to volunteer, too!!! Since I’m a native Pacific North Westerner, I’ve been thinking about the possibilities of my volunteering at the Vancouver Olympics. I’m not sure what’s involved, but I’m going to find out and see whether it’s something I can make happen. How exciting!

i really really really hope that your not disappointed. As England in general has this amazing ability to disappoint on well near enough everything.

As for the logo (looks around to see if anyone can hear) i kind of like it. Which is probably the last piece of evidence that it sucks.

I’m still not sure how I feel about our presentation yesterday. Oh, and I didn’t call my post “Whole lotta love” heh ;o)
I’m afraid I also still detest that logo, although it is better with the flag decorating it. It makes me eyes go screwy when I look at it. I guess it’s not about to be changed now though.
I am also hugely excited about 2012 – how did you go about signing up to volunteer? I would love to do that!!

What is the logo supposed to be shaped like? I can’t tell. Just please promise me you guys won’t impose your coloquial speech on the rest of the world like Atlanta did back in the day.

A bunch of Ford F-150’s with spotlights in the back and a crowd of dancers spelling out “HOWDY YA’LL” is not the best face to show the world. Learn from our idiocy!

Uhhh… sorry… but slapping the Union Jack on that horrendous logo is like putting lipstick on a pig… it’s still a pig. I remain hopeful that somebody in charge will come to their senses and change it sometime in the next four years! Oh well, regardless of what a mess the logo is, I’m sure the actual Olympics will be a smashing success for London!
