Okay, just to show you exactly how dull the area I live in is – this is one of the biggest stories in the area at the moment.
Recently, all bus travel was made free for the over 60s, which is obviously a good thing. Like all good things this was done with the ‘purest of intentions’ and all was fine. Now, my local council is complaining that the senior citizens have been using the freebies so much that they don’t know how they are going to pay for it. On some routes the increase in travel is as much as 90%. And these routes are mostly heading for the coast.
The thing that makes me laugh mostly about this is that the buses are rubbish at running at the best of times and all the buses that they are talking about run from Preston Bus Station which is, in my experience, run by a total moron. So, what I say is run free oh elderly of the area, Cram those buses full, keep the press’s beady eye on the scheme and show Stagecoach NorthWest up for the totally crap company that they are!!!
