Tomorrow is one of those days you want to come just to get it over with. It’s the Mayoral Coffee Morning which is being run by four local scout and guide groups. But more importantly, it is my mother’s last event as an fundraising ‘organiser’ for the scouts and she has been… fabulous, yes, but mostly driving me mad. She has been overpreparing in a mad way. There has been folding of raffle tickets and printing of price lists and the sorting and labeling and pricing of many Tombola and Raffle prizes, books, cds, dvds, videos etc. (A quick thank you to those of you who donated things…)
The house has been full of piles of things for weeks and the last two days have been a little manic.
Mum has baked 2 coffee and walnut cakes, 1 chococlate chocolate cake and an apple and sultana tray cake…
and… 2 apricot and sultana loafs, 2 fruit loafs, and many ginger slabs that will blow the roof of your mouth off.
She has also created many bunches of flowers for various things and done up two hampers of items for raffle prizes. And she is still supposed to be taking it easy after being in hospital… but, worst enemy and all that.
There really is nothing left to do but…she wants to be up at 6 to check and recheck everything. Fun. Because I have already moved on to the next event in my head I don’t care. I know what I am going this year and am fully prepared for it. Counting money is always fun. Always. Don’t try and deny it.
And then I am going to make Mum think about one thing and one thing only. Herself.
