I’m not ‘boring’. I’m English.
Querypalooza!
Okay, so this is a day late but, well, I didn’t take a day off on Feb 29th so yesterday was it in lieu. Praying I get this in before the wireless goes off again!
……………………. Yay!
From the depths of SJ’s mind comes questions that should be answered.
1. If you had to completely give up one of the following for the rest of your life, which would you sacrifice and why: Watching television, blogging or sex?
Sex. Definitely. Wouldn’t miss it.
2. Which do you drink most often and why: Tap water, bottled plain water or “enhanced” water?
Bottles plain water – I just always carry a bottle with me – even though enough of it falls out of the sky and I know I’ll never die of thirst, but it feels comforting to know I have it with me… It’s a hard plastic liquid filled comfort blanket.
3. What one movie has had the greatest impact on you as a person and why?
Singing in the Rain – from the first time that I saw this movie I just knew that somewhere out there had to be a group of people who would work together to make something beautiful… and a man would dance around with an umbrella singing about me. It’s better to say it about Singing in the Rain than High School Musical, right? Technicolored dreams… sigh…
4. If money/employment was of no consideration, where would you live and why?
The US of A baby! Anywhere! I love England, I do, but the way this country sees things (in shades of hoodie grey) is enough to make a grown girl cry. It may just be the way the movies tell it but the US always seems to be more hopeful, more colourful, more song and dance-able, more cheery.
5. Do you remember what life was like B.C. (before cellphones)? Compare and contrast your life then and now. Cite three examples of what you have gained or lost by using one. Include a pie chart showing the percentages of time spent on the phone, and a bar graph illustrating how your social life has been affected.
Barely. I remember having to wait in for phone calls, having to find working pay phones to ask mundane questions like ‘which flavour yoghurt do you want again?’ ad never knowing where people were. I also remember peace and quiet and being able to not be bothered… Sigh…
Pie chart shows internet time (crappy wap phone) as blue, texting as red, phone calls as green and writing notes for blog posts as yellow.![]()
Bar chart shows progression of planning time for socialising has increased; whereas actual being out time has dramatically decreased as plans get lost in translation.
To play you can either answer SJ’s questions and link back here or you can answer mine below and link back to this post… Ooo, choices, choices…
Right my five questions.
1. What’s the most embarrassing thing you have thought about blogging about, and then changed your mind?
2. If you weren’t doing what you were doing now, what would you be doing?
3. If you could take over anyone’s body for a day in a Being John Malkovich style, who would it be and why?
4. If you could erase one person/show from teevee who/what and why?
5. How do you pronounce meme?

I’ve a question for you Bec, why did you answer SJ’s questions rather than Avitable’s?
I can’t answer no.4 as I don’t appear to have any change handy, and it would have to be a toss up between Graham Norton and Ricky Gervais. I don’t have answers for 1-3 and I pronounce meme as “meme” if that helps.

Actually I lied in the above comment. I don’t pronounce meme “meme”, or any other way for that matter, since I’ve never had cause to say this non-word out loud.

Yeah. Why didn’t you answer my awesome questions?
I can’t believe you actually did graphs and charts – very impressive!
To answer your questions:
1. I’ve never changed my mind about anything embarrassing.
2. Not commenting.
3. Avril Lavigne’s. For very dirty reasons.
4. Pat Sajak. I hate him.
5. I alternate between “meem” and “me me”.

yorksdevil – I answered SJs questions as that was where I saw this first. Sometimes I reverse the order I read my Bloglines in just for the hell of it and this was one of them.
Graham Norton or Ricky Gervais – that is a difficult one… Just this once you can have both!
Avitable – I didn’t answer your questions as I felt like my brain just wouldn’t be able to give them the attention they deserved.
Borrowed charts and graphs form Google… then made up figures to fit… just like everyone has done with a pie chart since the beginning of time.
After Googling Pat Sajak and seeing his picture that was enough to make me want him gone.

I think question #1 should include self gratification in there with sex. You’d have to give it ALL up. Now what’s your answer?
kapgar’s last blog post..To that same old place that you laughed about…

kapgar – Oh, er… Erm… I go for the really annoying fourth option… Pretending I can’t hear you and changing the subject – hey, how ’bout them, er, Yankees?!
Bec’s last blog post..Impressive?

Did you see the story about Billy Crystal signing a short-term deal with the Yankees so he can play in a pre-season exhibition game?
yorksdevil – I didn’t hear about that but it sounds just like the kind of thing you’d expect from him!

Sorry to be so tardy!!!
I am DEEPLY impressed with your pie chart and bar graph. FINALLY someone who follows directions! Loved your answers, as well.
Also, quite obviously, you answered my questions instead of Avitable’s because mine are far superior. Ahem.

SJ – I always follow instructions. If not to the letter then at least to the vague sense of the intention…. And well, yeah, of course!
