And so I found another perfect post this month; this time over at Citizen of the Month. The post I nominated is called The Slumification of Kissena Boulevard in which Neil takes us on a tour of his old neighbourhood lamenting it’s demise (with some excellent photos along the way. It made me feel nostalgia for a place I’ve never been and anger that it had been allowed to get this bad when, although never easy, it could be helped. It’s a shame the old places never seem to survive. It was the first post this year to make me cry. I wish I could say more but the best thing to do is to go over there and read the post yourself… and then read the other nominations to be found over at Petroville and Suburban Turmoil!

But the reason for the title of this post?

Cloverfield

Oh yes, I saw it tonight. Cloverfield baby! I went to the cinema on opening night and it would have to have been for something special (as the only thing that ruins a good film is, well, other people!) and boy was this something special. I’m going into no details (as I am sticking to my no spoilers allowed) but there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like. Not a single thing. Will obviously go and see this again in a few weeks when there is no one else there to enjoy it more!

The trailers had me giddy before the film even started though. There was the Star Trek trailer ‘Under Construction‘ which gave me shivers, and another one for Jumper (I hate myself already for dribbling over this film) and then (Oh My God) an advert for the new season of Doctor Who!!!! (This link is to a video taken on someone’s phone and is terrible but chills baby chills!)

This was all after having a Philly Steak Wrap at Chiquitos so today was a very good day!

I used to virtually live at Chiquitos. Then again i used to have a life too.

Dan’s last blog post..And now back to our regular schedule

  2. Bec Says:

    Dan – I could live there… as I don’t have a life!

I still say that Poland has a better title for the film. How awesome is PROJEKT: MONSTER!?

  4. yorksdevil Says:

I went to see Sweeny Todd yesterday and I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw that film was called ‘jumper’.

Dave2 – If it had been possible for me to want to see that fil more, that may have been it! Wonder why they changed the name?!

yorksdevil – It is a bit of a daft name. If you have no idea what it was about you might think it was an art piece about knitting… but then, of course, you would have to be quite daft also!

Thanks for the link to ‘Citizen of the Month.’ That post was upsetting. It’s such a shame to see a neighbourhood deteriorate like that. As for Cloverfield – I can’t wait. It looks fantastic. I’m going to try and see it this weekend!

Selma – That post really got me. It makes me want to do something about it. That’s the power of Citizen of the Month. Cloverfield. Seriously. Loved it. Goosebumps just thinking about how good it was!
