Ranty today. Am feeling completely bloody useless. The one thing (outside of the internet) that gave me any joy has been totally ruined. I am being treated like a child by people who should know better just because they don’t want to admit someone half their age could be right.
I’ll be the very first to admit I don’t know everything in the area but I know, well, what I know and I am not the only person who feels this way… so I can’t be all wrong… right?
It all boils down to the internet - do people use it? Answers on a postcard…! A (don’t want to use the word but I can’t think of another one) rival group is blanket advertising in the local papers about their troubles and woes at a time when we have gone ‘dark’. The only place they are not promoting themselves is on the web (their website has been Under Construction for over a year. Ours is… awful. I mean, yes, it’s not the worst out there - not by a long shot, but it’s… embarrassingly bad. A kid with half an interest in putting together a site could do better. The person who put it together (the person I’m in a grump with) admitted he coded it in Notepad, which while impressive is a little silly when there are so many other programs out there - including some very nice free ones.
I have also suggested moving it because the free space it is on doesn’t support, what’s that word?, anything! It won’t even allow user-written CGI scripts… I want to use Wordpress as our CMS so that it can be easily updated by any (authorised) person. Not a hope in hell at the moment…
There are times when quitting seems to be the thing to do but then I’d just become part of the problem, letting the kepping the status quo brigade win… and I really don’t want them to.
Arrrgggghhhh! Okay, am breathing into a paper bag filled with valium. Everything is fine…
Yes, I’ve become one of those who Avitabletalked about - a Blog365-er. After the horrible-internet-doing-down-messing-up-Holidailies debacle I have decided to set myself a real challenge. Then at least I can say I have achieved one thing this year!
I was going to rant about the fact that a kid has been missing since August this year and we haven’t heard anything about her, but (yes, sympathy for parents and it’s very sad and everything but…) Maddie is still on the front cover of every national paper nearly every day.
It’s not a good promotion day…
Funny thing: Norovirus is still out there and I’ve just noticed that they are showing OutBreak later on. TV scheduling comedy genius!

It is a pain when people appear to be deliberately obstructive. Perhaps a good punch up the bracket would be appropriate.

Dan - Just found out he’s not going to be at the next meeting! Did my happy dance and everything!
May have to come up with some ‘Days of the week’ thing like Avitable’s Saturday Vlog… Have a couple of ideas and will be releasing them into the wild soon… Probably… Unless I decide they are dumb ideas!
