After M:I3 I honestly didn’t think I would be disappointed by any other ’3′ movies this year. I was wrong.
Now, I know next to nothing about the comic book so was watching X3: The Last Stand from a purely ‘I want to see a good movie’ perspective. And from that place most of the new characters wseemed unformed and, well, uninteresting. Now the people I went to the cinema with are all hardened geeks who discussed afterwards (at some length) how Phoenix was lame and how some of the other characters were overlooked. All loved the Stan Lee cameo and all hated the ‘romance novel cover’ Wolverine scene (I liked that – mmmmmmmmmuscles!).
Mostly, the girl part of me was annoyed that the pretty one was not in the film much but again Wolverine’s mmmmmmuscles helped the loss. The geek part of me enjoyed the special effects and I loved the Golden Gate Bridge bit. But, yeah, all felt a bit rushed (take another hour on – get into the characters and, oh I don’t know, some thought out plot) and too politicised (threats from Magneto on tape on TV… oh good lord).
This weekend I will be going to the cinema again to torture myself with United 93. I’ll probably chicken out though and see Poseidon. Oh, the trailers this time included The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift… Mmmm… must put that one in my diary.

maybe you would of enjoyed it a lot more if you didnt have somim wit talking throughout :0)
Um, I hear Poseidon was just god awful. See United 93.
Neil – mmm, totally agree… Death penalty for those who talk in the cinema? Or just the special hell?
Deb – After reading a review in my local paper (that said Poseidon was quite good) I have changed my mind and will not be seeing it. I want to have some of my life not be wasted!
